Pentax Unveils New Binoculars

PENTAX Imaging Company is pleased to announce the addition of two new series of binoculars.

The PENTAX DCF ED line of premium binoculars features extra-low dispersion (ED) glass for the highest level of optical performance in their class. These roof-prism binocular models include super reflective and phase coated prisms and feature excellent impact resistance and superb waterproofing. With a bright, clear field of view, hybrid aspherical lenses for superior edge-to-edge sharpness, and JIS Class 6 waterproof construction the DCF ED binoculars are the perfect observation tool for the most difficult viewing conditions.

A second series of binoculars also were announced. The PENTAX DCF HRc series roof-prism binoculars offer a bright, clear field of view in a considerably lightweight package. PENTAX applied multi-layer optical coatings to all lenses and prisms to boost the amount of transmitted light and featured silver-deposited roof prisms with high light-reflection ratios.

Together, these elements create a brighter and clearer field of view for the user. PENTAX also applied a phase-correcting prism coating that enhances the binoculars’ resolution and contrast. A new optical system (with an inner-focusing mechanism) creates a more compact body and reduces the binoculars’ weight by 20 percent from previous models in this product line. Further, the JIS Class 6 waterproof construction allows the binoculars to be used in all weather conditions and permits all parts of the binoculars to be submersed in water to a depth of 3.3 feet (1 meter).*

*The binoculars should not be used underwater.

All product models will ship in February 2007. Available in 8x42 and 10x42, the PENTAX DCF HRc models will be available under $300. The PENTAX DCF ED series will be available under $900 in 8x32, 8x43, 10x43 and 10x50 sizes.
