PENTAX Imaging Company introduced the PENTAX Optio E30 compact digital camera today in advance of the upcoming Consumer Electronics (CES) Trade Show in Las Vegas. Named for the easy-to-use line of PENTAX compact digital cameras, the Optio E30 offers 7.1 effective megapixels for exceptional high-resolution photography.
If you need a camera that can withstand immersion in water, your choices are basically limited to the Pentax Optio W20 or the Olympus mju 725 SW that I reviewed last week. The Pentax is cheaper, smaller, takes slightly better pictures, and looks more like a normal compact than the Olympus, but lacks the shock-proof credentials.

PENTAX Imaging Company has announced two new series of spotting scopes that offer exceptional image performance for outdoor observation. The PENTAX Spotting Scope PF-63ZOOM is a compact, lightweight spotting scope perfect for outdoor viewing. Featuring a bright field of view, rubber coating and JIS Class 6 waterproof construction, this PENTAX spotting scope uses a 63mm compact objective lens and offers increased mobility by making the eyepiece integrated with the body.
It may be the cheapest DSLR on the market, but the Pentax K100D isn’t short of advanced features, performance or image quality, and can comfortably hold its own against the Nikon D40. Build quality, design and handling are all superb, and the Shake Reduction system is as good as any on the market. If you’re looking for a good entry-level DSLR with the option to build up a kit, then look no further.
