“The Ricoh GX200 builds on the success of an already unique and very capable camera, the GX100, adding a small number of significant new features and a larger number of “nice-to-haves”. By far the most important improvement is the operational speed of RAW mode. The 6 second file write time and lack of continuous shooting offered by the GX100 has thankfully been replaced by near-instantenous write times in single-shot mode and the ability to shoot up to 5 RAW images at 1.18fps in continuous mode. Now you truly can shoot either JPEG or RAW images with the GX200 without much difference between the two modes, perfect for the photographer who wants to extract the best image quality possible and retain full control over post-processing.”
Ricoh Corporation, a leader in business solutions, solidified its leadership position in providing cameras with integrated GPS technology by releasing the 500SE GPS-ready digital camera today. Developed for outdoor location-based photography, the 500SE boasts extreme ruggedization and high resolution to meet the image quality and all-weather usability demanded by the mobile GPS photographer.
Ricoh releases the 7th firmware update for their GR Digital camera. Three of these firmware updates have been so called “feature updates” to add new mode settings and functions to the camera.
Ricoh proves once again that it can match and often exceed anything its rivals can produce. The Caplio R5 has a unique specification, combining wide angle and long telephoto abilities, effective image stabilisation and a usable high ISO setting, with good image quality and outstanding performance. Its only weak point is its poor low light focusing ability.
Like the RR660 this really isn’t a bad camera. Yes image quality could be better, yes battery life could be longer. But if what you really want is a cheap camera to shoot snaps on then it’s probably one of the best value cameras you will see. It’s also a great camera for somebody who struggles with all the modes and buttons on some of the other “entry level” cameras. It’s simple enough that you can take it ff automatic mode and start taking control without it getting confusing. If you want something that will produce the odd picture you can hang on your wall then consider spending a little more…
Ricoh Co., Ltd. (president and CEO: Masamitsu Sakurai) announced today that it will release on November 22 a third function-enhancing firmware update for its GR DIGITAL* high-resolution compact digital camera, which has been well received for more than a year since its release.
